Why do some some song titles have nothing to do with the song?

The song Big Yellow Taxi Has Nothing to do with a a taxi, White Room has nothing to do with a white room, Brass in Pocket never mentions any brass in anyones pocket, Clocks talks about everything besides clocks. Why do songwriters do this?

You are obviously not a songwriter - that's ok. Really there are an infinate number of reasons why an artist may do this. It may be a personal meaning for the lyrics that the artist doesn't want to share, or make too obvious.

Maybe the Songs could be described as an Idiom or metaphorically speaking. I know in the 80s, a band called ‘The Pretenders’ had a song called “Hymn To her’. Although they didn’t mention the title in their song, that song gave you the emotion about how girls or women manage to struggle their life.

I love brass in pocket and I think it is aptly named and most women will relate to this that she is going to use her feminine wiles....(hence her brass in pocket...ace in the hole...or whatever else she may have to make him notice and love her) makes sense to me...without being too obvious dontcha think..that's the whole point of being coy with a guy.
