In general, most colleges have rules against that kind of thing, except for maybe some of the private religious schools. Most college students are accepting, and the more intelligent ones will be willing to at least listen to your arguments against homophobia. But one of the things you should learn from college is that there are people who disagree with you, and you need to make sure you learn how to respectfully disagree with them

wow. most colleges are pretty accepting, which are you attending?
As for your question it depends on the level of homophopia and who it is coming from. If it is faculty, address the professor directly and if that does not help then go to school administration and logde a complaint. If it is students, you can address the individuals directly but chances are they are too immature to reason with. If it is minor, treat them like any other child and ignore them. If it escalates or is already escalated to the form of harassment (check definition) then you should address the issue to school administration.

Humor disarms a lot of situations.
Make a joke when confronted with it. It would also be really classy to rise above such bigotry. If you don't offend your rivals than you will at least impress anyone who hears about it.
Hold you head up high in any case friend.
