Hello,

You need to elaborate more, 30 over, after market cam, head work (Flow #s), etc.

I am the Tomahawk chapter's (of POCI) High-performance tech adviser and wish I had more info to answer correctly.

Edelbrock's Performer (non egr) with mild cam and less then 9.5 c.r.
RPM range: idle to 5500
Edelbrock's Performer RPM is the BEST Hi-rise Duel plane intake
RPM range: 1500 to 6500 with over 9.5 c.r. and hi-performance cam...500+ lift & 230 to 250 duration @.50 Heads must flow 230+ Forged pistons and rod work if stock.
Edelbrock's Torkor II is a lo-pro open plennum RPM range: 2500 to 6500 041 cam or more plus 10.0 c.r etc.
Edelbrock's Victor intake is a high rise race manifold, RPM range is 3500 to 7000 Heads must flow 260+ 11.1C.R or more and roller cam and aftermarker conecting rods, etc.

How much horse power do you have or how much do you want to make ??

I have a 400 Poncho in my 1977 Trans Am with aluminum heads (72cc flow 295), Comp cams Magnum cam-kit, RPM intake 30+ over 10.75.1 C.R. Headman 1 7/8" Huslers Headers. Dyno 475hp. & 495 ft.lbs. tq. with my Q-Jet! and pump gas...

Years ago, high performance pontiac magazine did a flow comparison between the stock cast iron manifold and an aftermarket dual plane unit. they found that in most cases the stock unit performed better than the aftermarket unit.

This has probably changed since then. I would imagine the Edelbrock intakes are very good, but I have no firsthand knowledge (sorry). One thing I have found is the matching of the intake to the head, and even some port work in the head/combustion chamber can really wake things up.

My 67 GTO has had port work and runs very strong with the a stock cast iron 1968 400/428 manifold from a Grand Prix.

The factory intake is actually a weak point in the Pontiac motor from a horsepower standpoint. I don't know what size the engine is, but most Pontiacs don't like much RPM. I would suggest an Edelbrock Performer RPM. It is good for 1500-6500 RPM, but really needs a little cam and headers, also. If it's a stock 455, I wouldn't suggest revving it above about 5200, but the manifold will make great power to there.
