You connect a Compatible cable to your Computer, Mirror it with your TV or Flat panel Monitor-Then Play the movies/Video.
Most Computers have either SVGA, DVI Outputs, then you need a Compatible cable on the other end to hook up to your Monitor.
For Instance Computer DVI Cable to HDMI(High Definition cable to the TV/Monitor), or SVG (From your Computer) to Composite Video Cable(They look like RCA Audio cables, and there's 3 of them!)
Hope this Helps

if you have a S-Video OUT on your computer and S-Video IN on your TV you can connect the two with a s-video cable for the picture but the sound would have to come out of the computer and you have to open the video in the same program you watch it with now. there are other way depending on what hardware your Computer has and what options your TV has. There is a cable call composite cable that allow you to connect this way also. another is a Component cable which is a 3 cabled wire. The link below show the different cables in colored pictures.

hmmmmmm if you have a video card above normal you could hook up to s video, or 2nd monitor.
check around the inet, you'll find various electronic hobby sites where you can get instructions on building a usb to tv video out cable, but not sure how it works. found it twice months back, now that i have a tv worth watching, i havent found it. saved it, but problems arose, etc.
pretty sure it can be done, but not positive.anyway, its a cool deal. on is "http://discoverelectronics.com" this is not the site if im remembering right, but theyve got way cool stuff.
