I think they'd be covered under Workmonk's Comp. They're out there day after day, swingin' and doing their primate thing for the zoo, so if it occurred during business hours, Workmonk's Comp. If it happened AFTER hours, then it would depend on the zoo. Did they provide health coverage for their Primates as a Bene?
If not, then hopefully they had private coverage outside the zoo, with Mutual of Omaha (they were always wrestling animals!). Otherwise the zoo Vet might put you "down" if you're not the top banana!

The zoo is a self insured employer and covers the expenses.

Universal health care has not and should not extend to primates. They have a job, and can pay their own way. It is part of the job, working in the zoo, and the hazards are made known to them from the begining. I think they can get travel insurance through GEICO, but not sure.

Yes, the zoos pay a lot of money for animals and their surroundings, so they do cover insurance on them. If they have a bunch of claims and can't pay their premiums, they raise the admission rates.

Of course. There are veterinarians to take care of zoo animals at no charge to them. One of the best parts of their health care is that they are euthanized when they are fatally injured or their health deteriorates to the point where life is intolerable.
