Racism in America is alive and flourishing, just read some of the questions and answers here in Yahoo Answers.
As with anything, after being around a while, they tend to go overboard and deviate from their original meaning.
I look at the NAACP as more credible than I do the Rainbow Coalition, why, because I'm not a fan of Jesse Jackson and questions his motives and actions.
What should we do to promote true equality? Accept people as human beings and stop this "we're more superior than you because..." mentality.
ALL blood bleeds red!

If there were a National Association of White People then it would automatically be considered racist. So why does the NAACP get away with doing the same thing? The NAACP and Jesse Jackson just pour salt on the wound. By the way, exactly what does the Reverend Jackson do for a living?

Jesse is hurting. NAACP just want their name in the paper regardless of what damage it does. When everyone starts pulling together for the same cause there might be hope. But as things are now racism is here to stay. Also racism is fueled by both sides of the line. Remove the fuel then you'll starve the fire.

I think that people like Jesse Jackson make a living off of racism in America, as such, it is in their interest that it continues. From my own experience, living in the Mid-west, I think that it is very small. I was just reflecting on a recent news story talking about a city that passed a non-binding ban of the use of the "n" word. One can argue the value orf a non-binding ban, but as I thought about it, I can't remember that word being used by a live person in any recent memory. I really think that it is more frequently used in the media (such as TV shows or movies), than in real life. I cant speak for other areas of the country.

I don't think we will ever again see the abject racism of the past. Our society is much too integrated at this point. Never the less, racism still exists beneath the surface within a crowd of the more backward among us.
The NAACP and Rainbow Coalition are important voices in maintaining an awareness for promoting a more equal society; but as far as either group pursuing any real tangible betterment of society, they are both becoming increasingly irrelevant.

I think its greatly exaggerated, Jesse Jackson extorts money from large corporations to keep his organization going. Where was he during the loss of electricity in the midwest for like a month ? oh wait they were mostly white people. the NAACP has also lost its way a long time ago

i think that people are just stupid. STUPID!
People should just stop. Black people can t help being black, neither can white people. Everyone is equal. Everyone, no matter the race, has a head, brain, eyes ears, ect. It s not like black people have devil horns or white people have angel wings or anything. People are people and i think that it is time for the next generation to step up and realize that people are people. No matter the race.

I think that racism is horrible, It is all about education, teach your children, talk to your children.. In my house we know no color.. it is just as simple as that.. There has never ever been a question about it.. We watched the movie Remember the Titans and my son was soo upset, he could not understand what was going on.. he was soo upset and we talked about racism after the movie.. I have to say it was a proud moment in my life to know that he knows no color!!
