does any one have any clue how effectively magitrate court cope with heavy workload?

Magistrate... heavy workload... ha ha ha... Oh surely you didn't put those three words in the same sentence? That's funny. You're a real comedian. Do you have a stand up tour? I might get tickets if you do.

Magistrates aren't that overworked. For one if the CPS allows the case to go as far as prosecution, nine times out of ten the case will be dealt with at a Pre-Trial Review which is presided over by the Clerk to the Court. Often times at the PTR the defendant will plead guilty and he'll go for straight sentencing, the case will discontinued due to lack of evidence or problems with witnesses or the defence may strike a deal with the prosecution, ie: scrote will plead guilty to a lesser charge, etc.

I reckon they would either pospone hearings till later date or move the case to another court nearest to them that can fit the case in.
