I want to be able to switch my job with one of waitressing because they make really good money (i dont). The thing is, I want to have a job before I quit the one I'm at now. Do I need to give my boss 2 weeks notice, or can I put that I'm available ASAP and quit on the spot?

don't burn the bridge, you never know what may be in your future with that company later in life. Also while servers CAN make a great deal of money the job is notorious for highs and lows. You could go into work on a busy night and make a few hundred dollars and then next walk out with just enough to cover the gas to get to work.

I would give a two week notice and if possible tell your future employer that until your two weeks are up at your current job you would like to work a few shifts that don't co-inside with your current job. That way you'll have a little preparation for the new job instead of just jumping into waiting which can be very challenging for someone who has no experience which if you do have some you'll know what I mean

Leave a 2 week notice at the job you have so you can get a good reference from them. otherwise they may say you walked out on them....
