I have a connection to my BT Broadband via cable linkup - however I am fed up with certain people coming into the house & somehow using my broadband via a laptop - how can I block this so that the only person using the broadband is me on my PC ?

I'm assuming that you have a wireless router that enables "certain people" to walk into you house and use your broadband?
If you're hardwired into a wireless router, then turn off it's wireless antenna. This can be done on the routers set-up page.
If you're using the router wirelessly also, then set up secutiry excryption.
If it's a hardwired router and that "certain people" have to plug their computer into the wall to access, then turn off the DHCP client on the router. (Although if you do this, mke sure that you have a Static IP addess set up on your local machine.

You need to encrypt your Bluetooth like a Wireless router with a pass key.

you should be able to do this via network settings, set your security to high for one, then set up a password, the only downfall is that you would have to use a password to get online every you wanted to use it.
