You purchase the game, install it and create an account using the included CD key.
You then have a number of options on how to pay.
-You can buy game cards at stores and just put in the codes, like you would with iTunes.
-You can put your credit card info into their site and pay every month ($14.99 recurring), every 3 months ($41.97 recurring), or every 6 months ($77.94 recurring).
Its $1 cheaper per month for the 3 month plan and $2 cheaper per month for the 6 month plan.
I personally stick with the 3 month plan because that way if at some time I feel like stopping (which I have to admitt hasn't happened since I got it a year ago), I can without having months left on my account and also I don't need to think about the transaction every month.
Also, I wouldn't worry about buying The Burning Crusade expansion yet unless you are really interested in playing one of the two new races, because most of the content in it will take you months to be able to access.

You have to buy the disc as well as pay $15 a month to play. I think the first month is free and it's a little bit cheaper if you buy it in larger increments. Also, if you haven't played it, try the trial version before buying the real deal. I think it's about 10 or 14 days, you can get it for $2 at a game store.
You can pay with a credit card or you can buy game cards if you want to use cash, that they sell at game stores. Just enter the code for the game card instead of entering your credit card info.

To start, find out if you like the game before spending your money, go to www.worldofwarcraft.com and sign up for a free 10 day trial.
If you like it, you can buy the orinigal for about $30, and the expansion for about $40 or so...
You have some different options for payments, if you pay monthly, it's about $15 a month, but if you pay for 3, 6, or 12 months at a time, you get a discount by using your credit card to set up pre-authorized payments.
If you don't have a credit card, you can buy pre-paid cards that are good for 60 days for around $30 too.

you buy the disc for the cd key, then it's a monthly charge. About 15 bucks a month if you pay monthly, a little less if you pay in larger incriments. Totally worth it if you have a LOT of time to kill. I've been playing over a year now.

Yes the game itself is 30$ and it is 15$ a month. You can just download the game from the website for free also but it takes like 10 hours to download.
