Is it normal to be more hungry when you have your period? I get very hungry, and I eat more than usual because I am losing blood. If I don't eat I feel shakey, especially when the flow is heavy. I hope it's normal and I'm not making an excuse for eating more!

During your period, you need to be especially careful to eat enough iron, which you can get from things like red meat, and several kinds of leafy greens and legumes. I have heard that you need something like 200 extra calories a day while you're on your period to replace the bloof that you're losing. If you're hungry, then your body is telling you something, but just don't fill up on chocolate (which is very tempting, I know)

Eating a lot more during your period is normal. Your body needs more nutrition during your period to keep your body healthy. During your period you lose some of the nutrients that you need. It is normal.

Yep, totally normal, I mean, hey, losing blood makes you tired and you have to restore the iron and nutrients you're losing.

It sounds right to me, hon. I totally do the same thing...otherwise, we're both up the creek.
