How? I can't get away from it. I don't drink everyday, but occassionally, everytime I keep telling myself to drink moderately, but the more I get drunk the more I wanted it.

I wanna be a better person for my wife and my daughter.

well, you could get an DUI, or find yourself in a fight, cheating, or otherwise compromising situation, join AA----there are any number of compromising and unfortunate situations you could find yourself in that might eventually change your habits, but until then, old habits die hard....

i was in a comparible situation a few months back... i was not being the greatest wife--fighting with my husband when i drank too much, and embarassing myself by not remembering what i did when i woke up from passing out.....--- well eventually i was driving under the influence and got caught.... now i am dealing with an OUI, and have learned my lesson.
please don't let it come down to all of that--its not worth it...but i have a feeling that you won't learn from my mistake, so wait it out, but in time something bad will happen to you, and you will wish you had more self control.

I can't drink moderately either. Infact, I'm drinking right now and going to get drunk sooner than later, of course, I don't have kids and my lover is drinking with me. Just don't have any to drink, not even a sip. If you don't want to get drunk, don't pretend you're going to drink moderately, it's not going to happen. You know how it goes after a single sip. You crave more. AA is for religious nuts. You just need to avoid alchohol. If you can't control yourself, seek help from a psychologist.

You could be a social alcoholic. The best thing to do is get treatment for this. Go to AA and check it out. This must be bothering you otherwise you would not of posted this question. You are admitting you have a problem and that is the first step in AA.

I really encourage you to just go to A.A. I went with my husband and I hardly ever drink, but I do miss it sometimes. I don't get into A.A big time like he does and follow their books to a tee. I do like to go to devert my mind away from that thinking. I don't want my son being around drinking and growing up like that. Plus, I believe drinking can lead to a bad life. So, I just go to stay away from it. I think you just need to find something else to do to stay away from it. That's what I found because the people there understand and we all just want to be better healthy people -- it helps to try to do it together. Support helps. God is even better.

You are an alcholic...The only way to not drink is to simply CHOOSE not to take that first drink.
