I wouldn't assume anything about that person except that they don't have anything to say at the time being. Those type of people actually intrigue me. When other people are talking, the quiet people are thinking, and I like to talk to them to see what they think about. In my experience, quiet people are usually profound and creative thinkers.

They're shy. I'm shy. What do you mean by "another perception", as if us shy people are delusional or something? Other people are scary but I still need friends!

normally you would say that they are shy, but it depends on the person they are talking to. if it was someone they prefered avoiding or didn't like, they would probably act like that as well. i'm a bit soft-spoken and i would act like that sometimes but i wouldn't call myself shy becuase (or so my friends tell me) i'm supposedly just a loud person with a soft voice and someone who sometimes can't be bothered to talk (?)

Hard to tell for sure unless you know the person whether it's a self-esteem issue or just a certain calmness someone has. A couple good quotes; "Calmness is the voice of the convinced. Loudness is the voice of those that are trying to convince themselves". "It is better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool than to open your and remove all doubt".

very few assume the person to be shy....many wrongly think of it as being too conceited to open a conversation or to be a very egoistic person.
only people close to the individual will understand the shyness

look on the vivid part, mushy-spoken people are very pleasant to hearken to and look sophisticated and correctly-mannered. i understand that some adult men discover mushy-spoken females as horny too yet i don't understand your gender so i don't understand if that applies to you.

Sometimes they are shy, sometimes they are people who like to assess their surroundings and situation before interacting.

SOME PEOPLE MAY READ SOMETHING MORE THAT JUST BEING SHY. SOME MAY THINK THEY HAVE BEEN OR ARE BEING ABUSED. EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, EVEN SEXUALLY ABUSED PEOPLE ARE USUALLY MORE INVERTED. IT SEEMS TO MAKE US FEEL SAFE. NO ONE IS WORTH OUR TRUST.......UNTIL YOU PROVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED.
