If they're interesting and entertaining they're doing what the makers intended them to be.

I only recently got the History channel and being a keen student of history was really looking forward to it - its pathetic. It is mainly American propaganda and in the some of the visual images remind of Hollywood when no proper research is done and costumes from different centuries are mixed up together I cannot believe a teacher would allow their students to watch this drivel.

The history channel is a tool of the establishment. Its purpose is to support the popular fantasy.

Doesn't matter for me. It makes them more interesting for my students to watch.
C'mon. You ALL remember having to sit through boring *** documentaries (PBS style) in High School. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I'm a realist. I realize that most every kid isn't as interested in history as myself, or as all the know-it-alls that have answered this question opposite of me. Would I rather have a kid: 1) Watch one of these overproduced, movie-like documentaries (that are quite historically accurate, actually) and have them remember a bit of it, 2) Would I rather have them fall asleep, or 3) Would I have them memorize names and dates out of a textbook to the point of them despising history (and me) for the rest of their lives. I think I'll take option #1.

I agree with you and I also agree with Don's answer above. I prefer PBS (in the NY/NJ area it is called Channel 13)... Their documentaries are better.

No. They are quite relevant, interesting, accurate, and educational. At least they are on the History Channel I watch.
