Hey I am five weeks too!! Yea I am worried because I can not sleep at all. Everyone I know was really tired at this time and slept alot. Then there is me and I get about 4 hours of sleep every night because I can't lay still. I tried everything, tea, pillows, hot milk. Nothing has worked yet. I think I am thinking to much about everything or something. Plus I get up at 330 to go pee and then I can't sleep again for a few more hours. When I do sleep I am knocked out and have crazy dreams. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one out there with this problem so early on!

Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can take to help you sleep while you're pregnant, as valerian is not good for your baby.
I know how you feel, I'm 30 weeks now, and I haven't slept properly since about 20 weeks, it's terrible, I'm a mess!! I went to my doctor, as it became a problem which I couldn't cope with, I was overly emotional and stressed out! Here are a few tips which have helped me (all from my doctor):
-Have a cup of herbal tea about an hour before bed.
-Do not drink anything in the hour before you go to bed to avoid having to get up to pee.
-Don't sleep during the day, save up the "tiredness" for the night! No naps!
-Lavender oil (2 drops on a hanky under your pillow) helps with sleep problems, and it one essential oil which is not harmful to you or baby.
-Put a pillow between your legs or under your tummy as you get bigger for a more comfortable nights sleep.
-You can take valuim if the problem gets really bad, but make sure your doctor prescribes it to you, as s/he will know the dosage you need, and will ensure there are no reasons why it could be harmful to you or baby.
I hope I helped a bit - I know what you're going through!

Oh darling...I know it is miserable!!! But you are only 5 weeks...wait till you are in your third trimester...it will only get worse.
You can take some things to get to sleep...but at this point being so early, and the baby still really developing I would not chance taking anything. You are not past the safe point, and you never know what drugs can affect little baby.
Just try to relax, not do any exercise late, drink milk, take a hot bath. I would go all natural at this point. I promise you this is the easy time...so try to be positive!!!

Firstly, congrats! You have a lot on your mind right now.The only thing I can tell you is to avoid stimulating activies, large meals and caffeined beverages close to bedtime.Learn to sleep on your left side so you can begin to use to that position later on during pregnancy.Get some extra pillows for your feet and turn on a fan or something with "white noise".

It sounds awfully goofy, but I used my sleepless nights to write letters to my baby...propped up in bed, with a cup of chamomile tea next to me, and restful music playing...I had some great letters to show my son!
Try massage, a buckwheat bag (heated in the microwave) on your back or at your toes, and warm, non-caffeinated drinks...congratulations and good luck!

This is normal just wait till you get to the 3rd trimester. Its way worse. You will not sleep at all and if you do you will be up every hour or two to pee.

try drinking some warm camomille tea with a little milk and honey, this works for me when I can't sleep, you can also try to go for a long walk before bed this may wear your body down a bit...
