To all the people who refuse to spay/neuter, or who think they're
"breeders" because they put fido and fifi together and produced a litter
of mongrels who will all likely end up in a barrel behind the shelter by
the time they reach sexual maturity: Die. Diediediediedie. I wish to god
that there was a mandatory spay/neuter law and that the penalty for
breaking it was to be forced to spend a day working in the euthanasia
room. Seriously. It's simple math, people. Every dog or cat you
carelessly add into this world takes away a home for a dog or cat that is
already here. So breeding means killing...so have a good day,
executioners! I hope the 50 bucks you made off that puppy sure feels
good.

I am not sure it should be manditory but I do aggree about people should have to work in the euthanasia room for a day.
That would be a very fitting punishment for what they do.
All of my dogs are spayed and neutered even my MH field champoin dogs are altered and will never be bred.
I work with a dog rescue and see so many perfectly great purebred dogs in rescue that even though mine have done everything they should have to be bred they will never be.

First of all, chill. You're sounding a bit like a Nazi straight from a concentration camp targeting undesirables. People don't need to die - what a terrible thing to say. :-(
Second, I agree that only professional breeders should breed and sell their animals.
Third, your logic that breeding and adding animals to the world takes away a home for an existing animal is severely flawed. Say I'm a person looking for a dog type XYZ; I'm not going to settle for a dog type ABC because it's available at the shelter. People are very particular about their pets - they are family members.
Fourth, while I agree that mandatory sterilization is a good idea, we would also miss out on so many wonderful pets. There is nothing quite like a mixed breed animal for companionship and intelligence. Not everyone can afford a breeder's rates or wants a purebred dog. I'm not advocating mixed breeding - just some flexibility.
My final point is that people should be applauded for the improvement in pet health and care over the past 50 -100 years. Humane shelters, better veterinary medicine, and higher rates of sterilization have been achieved. We can always do better, and we will - but not through Nazi tirades, rather through better education. Hope you feel better.

i totally agree with you on that one. if someone wants puppies why cant they just go to the puind and get a poor puppy who will be killed the next day if someone doesnt save. and the reason that the puppy was in the puond in the first place is b-cuz some stupid person bred their dog and sold the puppies and the person who bought that puppy did want it anymore and decided to kill it. I wish that spay/neuter was mandatory anywhere that you can buy dogs....from breeders to petland. Another good reason for that to be mandatory is for the simple fact of inbreeding. if your dogs were spayed/neutered then we would have deforomed dogs now would we? NO! But another big problem is that if all the dogs are spayed and neutered what happens when all of those dogs die and none ever had puppies? now what will we dog about dogs and cats?

No it shouldn't but people should be smart enough to get their animals fixed. One of the biggest problems that causes pets to be put in shelters is people can't keep or afford to take care of their pets. The Human Society and other shelters act like they care about animals but all they care about is money. If they cared about animals they would make it easier have animals checked by vets. My local HS does not have low cost vets. Vets are in it for the money, not to help pets. Yet if you don't take care of your animal your charged with "cruelty" what is cruel is the fact that the HS won't help with low cost vets. The biggest problem is pet rent!!!! This is money landlords charge on a monthly basis per pet and you never get back no matter how good you leave your place. I have seen it over $100 per mth per pet no matter what the breed is. I am in a situation where I am about to be forced into giving my spayed pets to a shelter because of pet rent. This should be illegal and then you might not see so many pets left at shelters because "owner had to move". High security dep is one thing you get it back but pet rent is just free money the landlords can get and not claim on income tax. Say you stay at a place for yrs. imagine $200 or more extra a month for that time, even if the pet does something will it really cost that kind of money to fix?

And five years from now there will be no guide dogs, hearing ear dogs, police dogs, herd dogs, hunting dogs... 10 years from now there will be no dogs.....

99.9% or attempts to put in such "mandatory" spay neuter laws require owners to report themselves! so the responsible folks who would not breed a litter of mixed dogs or any pups (yah know the leash is a birth control device) unless the dog has some quality important to leave behind him/her and will carefully screen homes take it in the teeth. The irresponsible slobs have a litter every 6 months drop them off at the pound and should anyone show up asking questions claim the dog is a stray!

Yes,I think spay/neuter should be mandatory for all non showing dogs or dogs that have not been genetically tested for breed betterment.
I don't agree all breeders should die though.

does this mean that people shouldnt have kids because the kids will eventually die?

what your saying doesn't make sense. animals have instincts to reproduce and try to not go extinct

while i agree that most pets should be spayed or nuetered it shouldnt be mandatory.
