Some people believe that the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is one of the finest organizations in the US that opposes the combining of Church and State, and defends the civil liberties of all Americans.

Others believe that the ACLU is the nation's foremost censor of religious freedom. They believe that the ACLU’s policies and goals are destroying America's fabric by pushing a radical agenda that supports polygamy, child pornography, infanticide, gun control, illegal immigration and more. Despite their claim to be great defenders of liberty, they are actually defending terrorists, molesters and murderers while attacking honest, hard-working, principled Americans. What do you think?

Unfavorable! On February 23rd, the former President of the American Civil Liberties Union in Virginia, Charles Rust-Tierney was arrested and charged by I.C.E. agents for purchasing, possessing, and pandering Child Pornography.

Tierney apparently told the feds that he paid for the child porn using a PayPal account and then downloaded images of prepubescent girls being violently raped onto CD-ROM disks, which the authorities seized in his home.
One of the images Tierney was in possession of showed a little girl tied up and screaming while being violently raped.
Tierney led the Virginia’s A.C.L.U. effort to block porn filters on library computers.
Tierney is the ACLU rule of hypocrisy and by no means the exception.

The ACLU's main goal is to protect all American's right to due process under our own laws.

As odd as it sounds, even the pedophiles, gun toting psychos, druggies, scumbags, and general losers are deserving of a fair shot at due process in our courts of law. Because if the government starts to cuts corners with them, then it's only a matter of time before they start cutting them with you and me.

And THATS why the ACLU is an important entity.

They protect the freedoms of all Americans. Even ungrateful cons.

Even hysterical religious extremists who think religious freedom means dominating the nation and social engineering.

Despite the hysterics of the loony right, the ACLU doesnt defend child molesters, pornographers or terrorists. Their only client is protecting the US constitution.

Such radical anti-American that they've represented are Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Such terrorist lovers and pedophile protectors they have working for them are former GOP congressmen Bob Barr and Dick Armey.

Perhaps you cons should try reality next time, rather than con hysterics and lies!

i don't like him, and that i actually imagine this is unhappy that people have become thumbs down for a view of a president. in case you don't like him, you don't like him end of tale. If this become bush it will be thoroughly diverse. Obama is a socialist and all of us is conscious of it. so in case you provide me a thumbs down i imagine you need to look on the very undeniable truth that Obama isn't the 2d coming and funky off.

The are absolutely a force for good. They defend the constitution even when they disagree with the people they are defending; that is the key for me.

You seem to think they should pick and choose whose rights are protected, but don't you see that the whole point if our government is that we ALL get to have our rights protected.

The ACLU exists to protect the rights of "all" Americans. To oppose the ACLU would be un-American. Since they defend all Americans, sometimes we are not going to like who they are defending. In my case, I loath the fact that they defended Oliver North, but I respect the organization because it represents "all" Americans.

Considering that the ACLU has helped keep barking right-wing moonbats including Flush Phlegmball and Pat Robertson out of prison, you would think the right-wing wackos would be less vindictive and hateful against them. Not so.

The aclu (I refuse to capitalize the name b/c of the lack of respect they've shown Christians) is one of the worst orgs that has ever been made. I personally hold the aclu synonimous with orgs like the KKK and Black Panthers.

No I dont like at all. I dont care who ya are if ya break the law, ya need to be broke too.

*Child molesters dont deserve to have any rights. I knew Carlie Brucia, she was raped, strangled and buried in a church that I used to pass by every day!

the aclu has defended ''things'' like him. In my mind I have made my own little anagram.

a:anti-american
c: communist
l: liberties
u: union

Well it is pretty clear where you stand on this issue eh?

People who have a problem with the ACLU are either head cases or dont really understand it. You dont pick and choose which parts of the Constitution you want followed.

I dislike this group intensely. I think if they had their way we would be free to do a lot of things that really are harmful. Every human being needs guidelines and boundaries, if for no other reason than to keep civility and law and order.
