If you get a violation, appeal it. Not all violations are valid. The Violation email has a link for making an appeal to the Customer Care. Use it and make the appeal.
Customer Care does make mistakes and grants violations for a question or answer that is not a violation. Because of this, the Yahoo Answers Team (who write the Community Guidelines) has set up a message board where you can appeal to them for a review. The YAT will review the violations, and if valid will tell you. If not valid they will instruct Customer Care to correct it.
To make an appeal to the YAT, go to the Forum link at the top of any Answers page. On the next page go to the right side to the NEED HELP?, click on "Report Wrongful Violations".

This is a touchy subject, while she does have freedom of expression, yahoo set up rules that she must adhere to. I believe she agreed to them when she signed up for answers. However, I think some violations are out of spite and jealousy. To get even she can start her own Q&A website that is superior to this one without the restrictions on free speech.
Or... she could give the CEO a good old fashioned Noogie.

I know all about it. I have only had a couple of violation notices but when I looked at the rules I noticed that almost everyone in here breaks the rules!! I got in trouble for saying lmfao....I guess I wasn't allowed to put that.....After that one is when I decided to read the rules and wow, it's just not fair I know. I don't know what she can do. Maybe contact them? Tell them to recheck the rules and make sure that everyone follows...not just some. I think some too has to do with people being too uptight and having no sense of humour and reporting.

That is very sad that she wants to get even, there are better ways to correct this. First did she follow the rules and if she did then she has a legitimate gripe and should complain to the higher-ups and if she did not follow the rules, then she needs to see if she may be given another chance for whatever accounts she is seeking back that she lost.

billy has been waiting for this to come, there must be a governing agency with jurisdiction a person can complain to, YAHOO has been living dangerously for some time with their policies perhaps government inquiries or litigation is the next step, I would not hesitate to call my congess person and raise hell, YAHOO may feel the shoe from the other foot, can you say discrimination, can you say infringement of civil rights, can you say slander.

Maybe she should stay away from questions and answers that are going to get her violated. Apparently she knows what she is doing wrong, so stop doing it.

Your sister has no "right" to expression on Yahoo, as it is a privately owned entity. She certainly has the right to express herself in other ways, but Yahoo also has the right to limit her expression on their format.
If someone was standing on your front porch screaming filthy names, would you want to limit their freedom of expression?

Freedom of expression? Or do you mean freedom of harrassment? Hmmm. She knew the rules and she broke them. Sounds like she likes to cause trouble and is oblivious of the consequences. Get therapy both of you. Geez. And get a life!!!

She has no legal recourse as Yahoo is not
a state run institution.
"Freedom of expression" is a right that the
STATE cannot take away from you. However,
private institutions can certainly deny you
access to things on the basis of what you
say.
