It's takes aprox. 511 licks , this number is significantly reduced if there is any sucking involved.BTW it takes 11 minutes to suck it down and three days if you leave it open on the sidewalk in the middle of summer in Florida. (ants and humidity). Does this suffice?

I can't believe that I'm answering this question again because no one believes my answer. I don't know if the answer varies from one flavor to another or not. But here goes.....
It was several years ago, it was a grape flavored tootsie roll pop and it took 143 licks to get to the center.

I have never been able to go with out biting one either, so to quote the commercial the world may never know. I think someone else asked this question a while back the answer is the same now as it was then.

you know it really depends if your going to suck the whole pop or just lick each side because then you be there pretty much a long day.it took me once 55 licks then i bit it. good luck

I don't lick or bite. I simply keep it in my cheek for an hour or so until it's gone. So... zero.
