How is it scored? It says the score range is between 200-800. But I scored somewhere in the middle. What I want to know, is my score good or bad?
Another question: Is ACT up to 1600?

Edit: I have 3 sections scored. Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. Which would be used to send to my applied college?

If you're in the middle, you are just that - not bad, but maybe not good for some colleges. Look at the websites for colleges you are interested in and they will usually give an SAT range. That lets you know how your score will affect your chances.
I've noticed that even though there are three parts on the SAT now, most colleges are still going by the reading/math combined for scholarship purposes. By that method, a 1600 is perfect, 1400+ is high enough for almost all schools (depending on your GPA) and 1250+ is high enough for a lot of really good schools, though maybe not the Ivy League. Again - you should just take a look at the schools where you want to apply.
ACT is scored completely differently. A perfect score on the ACT is 36 and there are four parts. Hope this helps - good luck!

1. For each of the sections of SAT, they will take the number of questions you got right minus the number of questions you got wrong DIVIDED BY 4. (the questions that you didn't attempt is worth 0 points)
200-800 is the scaled score of the result. That means that your absolute score for each section will be compared to others' score and graded in the range from 200 to 800.
2. 700-800 is usally considered to be very good--you would be likely to get into a highly selective university ex) Yale
600-700 is still a pretty good score with which you'll be able to go to a selective university, probably most of the state universities
500-600 is maybe an average score of all the test-takers, but will probably be the lowest scores of the university acceptants.
*There are certainly exceptions to these generalizations. Some people get into, like, Harvard with a score in the high 600s.
3. ACT is up to 36.
4. All three sections will be required by universities.
5. Just a tip--you should check out www.collegeboard.com. Then go to for students, then SAT. Also, if you want to improve your score, get a prep book. I would highly recommend working separately on each of the sections and then moving onto practicing the entire test--10 Real SATs would be great for that. The books also have more information about your questions.

The closer you are to 800, the better your score is, on each of the sections.
Added together, a score of over 1600 is good.
The ACT is up to 35 (I think)

SAT's scores can never be good or bad, it just depends where you're applying to. some universities only take very good scores, others don't.
check www.collegeboard.com and you can check universities that accept the result you got. and don't worry, if the university you wanna go to doesn't accept your result, just study a bit more and take another test.
I think 500 is an average good result, sort of the minimum to get to universities.
good luck :)

I think they changed the SAT to make it ouf 2400 points now (when I took it, it was only out of 1800). The ACT however is only like 30 or something like that.
