Well today my mom is taking me to the gyn but before i actually go to one she will take me to my pediatrician who will feel my vagina. Can he tell if the hymen is brken by feeling the top of my vagina? I am so worried and my mom is definately going to be right there nothig can be worse than that I guess. I am sexually active but I didnt do anything for the past 3 and half weeks. I am stressed out about this and she has been in the room since I was small so most likely she will be in there today. What should i say to him and my moher is right there? Please help me out someone

well you didn't say how old you are but that is really of no consequence, just bc the hymen is broken doesn't mean that they can tell if ur sexually active, and also most doctors wouldn't say anything like that in front ur parent bc they know that lots of girls don't want their parents to know, my best suggestion would be to talk to your mom and tell her that you are old enough now and want to go in alone

He can tell if the hymen is intact or not, though that is no indication of sexual activity. Plus, your mother should definitely be in the room. If he or your gyn ask you about being sexually active (you did not mention how old you were) please do your best to be up front and honest about it. It is in your best interest to own up to your actions. Hiding it will not make it any easier in the long run. Good luck.

A lot of girls use tampons now and that will break the hymen. I would think that it makes it harder for doctors to be able to say yes or no. It is not a doctors place to talk about things like this unless it is part of the reason you are there. Don't worry!

You can tell you're mom that you are getting older now and would like privacy. Ask to see your Dr. alone. However, a nurse should still be present in the room with you. A Dr. has confidentiately laws that he /she must adhere to. You're mom must leave the room if you request her to.
