I never read this newspaper column, i take it you refer to the Indian Mutiny of 1857? Many people were outraged at the cawnpore murder of British women and and children by two sepoy butchers in the Bibi-Ghar on orders of Nana Sahib, and i can understand why, If he did write sutch a column.

Doesn't sound like Dickens to me. He was a champion of the underdog and the oppressed.

I can believe this. Sometimes the much-reviled administrators on the scene are more sensible than the folks back home.
