After a decade I finally found my ex-girlfriend. Now is the time I can hopefully see my daughter. She is 16 years old now. I want to see her, just to see what she looks like if nothing else. I have to decide the next course of action.

I figure I can do a lawyer sneak attack.
Confront her (didn't go well last time 12 years ago, big screaming match).
Go and talk to my daughter, but I'm not sure of legal implications. My ex listed another guy as father.
I am looking for the guy she listed as her father; he wouldn't help last time because he was afraid she would do to him what she did to me. He has kids with her too.

I am afraid that if I act on impulse she will run before I can get the lawyer on her. I at least need some court order so she will get a contemt of court charge if she runs. With knowing where she is, I am going crazy wanting to at least see her.

Even the private investigator wasn't able to find her with the way she moves around. I just got lucky yesterday.

I don't care about my ex.

I do want my girl in my life.

If I do go to see her today it will be just for me to try to see her from a distance. I don't want to mess up this opportunity.

If you are doing this because you want to have a relationship with your daughter then get a lawyer and file papers in court as soon as possible. Don't let the women know that you know where she is. Make sure that all is legal and in order.
If you just want to get back at your ex then leave it alone... the girl will have to go through DNA testing and it would be a trauma if she went through all of that and then you walked away.

It sounds like a lot of work and disruption 'just to see what she looks like if nothing else.' You have to decide what you're going to do before anything else. Is it to gain custody? Do you want your daughter in your life? You can't go in and be daddy and get lost again (to her).

I would be very slow and gentle in your approach. "Patience is a virtue" (unless advised otherwise by an attorney) It has been years so what is a short while longer--if handled properly. Maybe looking from afar but don't move in too quickly to scare. My opinion.
I wish you luck.

get a lawyer, but also wonder if this will destroy her life. She has thought someone else was her father, hasn't she? If so meeting you could traumatize her.
