I would strongly advice against it, because I used it with my first child, I drank about half of the bottle and sure enough the contractions started ( sounds great right? ) but no dialating occurred I walked around for 3 days having very painful contractions went to the hospital and was sent home twice, first time I was given a shot of morphine, second time I was given seconal ( sleeping pills ) and finally the third time I begged them to keep me and induce labor because I hadn't slept for three days, DON'T DO IT!!!!! I've learned you can't make a baby come they will come when they are ready and though it may seem like an eternity the baby WILL come, so just relaxed and let it come naturally

It is an old wives tale, but I have heard of it working. However, it is healthier for you and the baby if you let your body handle this naturally.
I went 2 wks 3 days with DD and I so longed to get her out and hold her in my arms...I was willing to try everything but for some reason your body is NOT ready just yet. Labor is a natural thing and if you don't let it go naturally you could be going to soon for the baby.
Don't worry though your doctors will handle this situation the best way they feel necessary at 38/40 wks you should be seeing them on a weekly basis anyway, so just consult your doctor and let your body handle the rest.

Start Labor is nothing to do with Castor oil,it just make your tummy pain and you feel like contraction.

Good answers all, but also the Castor oil causes diarrhea, and it just goes on and on. Felt like I had been burned back there. Just go about your normal activities and walk a lot. Babies will come on their own schedule.
