1. Nowadays there are something like 50 countries in Europe
2. The EU has just expanded to 27 countries. Most of the land mass of Europe is in the EU.
3. Yes
4. Not necessarily. Many countries still require a visa to visit. The USA does not allow all EU countries to use the Visa Waiver Program.
5. Close call. If we can elect a decent president next time around I think the USA can move ahead economically but Europe is some way ahead on social issues and is likely to remain so for some time, even if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency.
6. The trading enemy for quite some time has been the USA but Japan is flexing its muscle a bit more nowadays.
7. Britain did not want to join the EEC (as it then was) because it wanted more of a trading partnership than a move towards political union. In the 1970's it decided the trading benefits to be gained by membership outweighed the political issues. The electorate voted 3:1 to confirm membership in 1975.
8. Britain is a full member of the EU and has been since 1973.
9. The President of the European Commission is selected by the Heads of Government. The appointment is generally for five years, renewable for a further five years. The President tends to be a politician with foreign affairs experience.
10. No country has quit the EU, but when Greenland gained more autonomy from Denmark in the 1980's it was able to negotiate its way out of the community. There will be issues with ongoing EU aid to countries and discussions on things such as fishing rights, as well as customs requirements for cross-border trade. If any large country left it would be a very big deal and probably very messy for several years.

Hope this gives you the answers you wanted.

1) 47 countries

2) 27 countries

3) yes...european union citizens can travel within the EU without applying for a visa

4) not to everywhere on the world...only within the EU...outside the EU you need your passport

5) EU of course, because it's a community of 27 countries and you can travel to these countries without having to apply for a visa...you can work in those countries...you can buy real estate there...you can make a company there and these are really big advantages...the USA is JUST the USA

6) EU doesn't really have any enemies in terms of military because it's not a military integration...EU is based on economic and political integration...in terms of trading it depends on the countries...for example a country that would want to export its products for very cheap prices in Europe, which would neglect the people who produce these products within the EU...therefore it tries to use tolls and so on, which GATT and the WTO try to prevent

7) the reason is because of the French...Britain would have been with the EU right from the beginning, but since the French are sort of critical towards the USA, they didn't want Britain to join in the beginning, because they've got a too strong connection with the USA

8) I don't get your question...Britain can sell and buy products within the EU without having to pay tolls or allowed to set any...British products are sort of promoted if you compare it with Japanese or American products...there aren't as much as Japanese cars in Europe any more, because the EU raised the tolls on Japanese cars...they sort of try to secure the market for the European countries "only"

9)the heads of the EU commission do that, they elect the president of the EU...the last one was from Portugal I think

10) well the consequences are that it won't be able to enjoy all those economical advantages any more
it hasn't happened until now yet, so I'm not quite sure what else might face a country if they quit

Europe is the continent, and incorporates approximately 50 different international places. the ecu Union isn't the comparable component in any respect. that's in undemanding terms an settlement, in particular for economic motives, between at present 27 different international places, all of that are in Europe. If the united kingdom leaves the ecu - which I basically doubt will ever take place as they might have too lots to lose and little to earnings from doing one in all those component - it fairly is going to nevertheless join Europe. Turkey isn't element of the ecu Union, the place did you get that little bit of incorrect information? neither is Turkey probably to alter into an ecu member state interior the close to destiny, too many human beings in Turkey itself do not consider it. Turkey is one in all 2 international places it fairly is somewhat in 2 continents, the two Europe and Asia. the different united states like it is Russia.
