Here is the thing...most times cats get along with ferrets BUT it is usually for a short period of time and then the daggers start coming out. I have let my ferrets have very limited encounters with my cat. The reason is because the cat would play "nice" and do the whole "hide-and-seek" thing for a while and then she would start biting and clawing. That made me nervous because the ferrets are half the cats size or smaller. I would only recommend it if you are 100% certain that your cat would not hurt them. I would also make sure that I was around the whole time they were playing and never leave them alone.

As far as leaving the ferret run the whole house...I do not personally recommend it. I have been a ferret owner for 10 years +. I have found that confining the ferret to one room, such as your bedroom, and making sure that room is ferret proofed is the safest way to go. Whether you choose to confine your ferret(s) to one room OR let them run the whole house, I think you should check out this site in order to ferret proof things. I find that this site has all the information you will need and I think it is reliable for other information as well. Good luck and take care of those fuzzers!
