It's a social science. Science is any system of objective knowledge. Social sciences deal with matters pertaining to society. People tend to think of the natural sciences (astronomy, geology, chemistry, etc.) when they hear the word science, but that view is not entirely accurate. So yes, politics is a science.

Now this is a great question. It depends on a few issues what you mean by science, what you mean by science, etc.

Can politics be studied scientifically, through observation and conclusion? Yes

Can politics have the accuracy of predicting the future result of something based upon past experience? No

The difficulty is unlike most objects of science (Biology, Chemistry, etc) which rely upon the presupposition that the world they study is static and things that are seen in the past will behave the same way in the future, politics being a study of humans does not have that.

Since mankind is able to act any way, it is not possible to say they follow mechanical laws, which are necessary for a true "science".

Politics therefore, should not be considered a science as such.
