Has your water level dropped? If so then yes you may have cross contamination that will strongly indicate a head gasket blow.
The changing of the Head gasket should be no more than £350
By the way it doesn't need to be overheating to be the head gasket. Also check you water for oil too

You have not told us when the oil was last changed, it may be that the oil is just old.
Take of the filler cap and look to see if there is white deposits on the inside of the cap. If so you need to check the water level in the cooling system, typically you may have had to top up the water in the recent past.
If the head gasket has gone it will cost about £300 to have the gasket changes.
This cost may increase if it is found that the cylinder head is cracked or warped.
If the cost does increase it would be an idea to look around the scrap yards to see what engines they have, try if possible to get a 16valve engine with low mileage on the clock.

Yes, you have water in the oil, so a head gasket or cracked head is likely. Sorry....
I'm in the States, so I don't know the differences in prices, but you could get a head gasket installed here for $5-600. Don't drive the car, as you could cause further damage. If your head is cracked, check the price of a used head, as this will save you quite a bit of money. Good luck!

White lumps in your oil means a bad head gasket. This is very bad, and very costly. They have to remove the whole head off of your engine to get to it. I am sure that with a v8, this is going to be very expensive to fix.
Since the car is at least 10 years old, I would suggest looking into buying another one, if possible. Fixing this would generally cost more than what the car is worth, unless you have kept it nice.

Sounds bad. Yes gasket chunks and coolant. Once the gasket is gone your water jacket then leaks coolant into the oil system and oil into the cooling system. If possible, to prevent any more damage do not drive this car. Have a new head gasket installed and the cooling system flushed.

hi there, the creamy white lumps in your oil doesn't mean that your head gasket has gone, there are breather pipeson your engine mainly coming from your air box going to the oil filler, if these are blocked badly then it will course a lot of creamy deposits in you oil and you should notice that the engine seems a little sluggish than usaul, if it is the head gasket then your looking around £40 for the parts and about £130 for the labour, hope this helps, gary (oswestry)

STOP, do not start your engine, white streak and chunks in your oil mean you have water in it, a couple things can cause it, i am not present, so i cant tell you what is wrong, but the head gasket would be an idea, another one is a cracked block. Either way.....you need to have it checked my a certified mechanic as soon as you possibly can, and DO NOT drive it to the shop, it will only get worse if you do. Good luck.

funny you should ask...
that just happened to me and it did indeed turn out to be a head gasket. however i would also suggest that you take your car to a repair shop that you can trust and has a decent reputation and have your heads checked as a cracked or warped head will also get water in your oil. good luck.
by the way a gasket set or kit should not run you more than $30.00 .

Could be the gasket going, or, a build up of condensation, caused by to many short journeys, so the engine doesnt really get hot. Try giving the car a good blast (100 miles approx) then have a look. If its still there, then your gasket is on its way out....
Good luck...
