Its a very difficult question to answer. Depends on individual tastes, choices and cultures all over the world. some which may come close are Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, omar Mukhtyar or Emperor Lost.

I really don't believe there is just one film that stands out above all others as everyone's taste is different.
Star Wars brought in the most money.
Gone with the Wind got the most hype
Personally, one of my favorites is Flight of the Phoenix (original version with Jimmy Stewart)

It's a superior version of YOUR life, directed by George Stevens and starring Max Von Sydow as YOU.

Certainly beats Mel Gibsons sad attempt.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is amazing and very emotional. The Return of the king is the best, made me cry. everything is incredible the acting and music and special effects
