I'd have to say that it's due to all those self-righteous 'Christians' who think they're the holiest thing on earth and that homosexuals are disgusting and filthy creeatures. So much for loving a neighbour as oneself.
Yes the bible said homosexuality is a sin but honestly, how many people of God are completely perfect?
Agreed?
I am a Christian, I accepted Christ quite recently, and I have felt God's love and I still am.
The reason why I posted this question is basically to give homosexuals some encouragement and persuade them not to leave Christianity so readily, it's not like I'm disagreeing with the Bible.
I posted "how many people of God are completely perfect?" to say that there is hope and God still loves everyone. I'm not justifying the act.
And as you've guessed, I am a homosexual and I didn't choose to be so. I just realised I was one during puberty. I'm doing this celibate thing where I remain single forever.

I know it will be hard to remain single, at least until the Lord decides to spare me, but I will do it none the less.

It's because gay people are discriminated agsinst totally out of proportion to the bible reference that forbids it. They are publicly condemned, have rocks thrown at them and denied not only rights to marry but the idea that they are good people.
The same book condemning homosexuality also condemns the eating of shellfish. Exodu calls for the death sentence to be handed down on those that work on Sunday. Yet all of us working on Sunday or enjoying a nice piece of crab or lobster are spared from the wrath of the church whilst homosexuals have put up with abuse and discrimination for centuries. What would happen if the church decided that if one works on a Sunday they deny themselves the right to marry? This is what we are talking about, archaic dogma from an age ago. We are not in the Middle East 2,500 years ago, so why must we pay attention to these insane rules? We contradicted the Bible directly when we banned and condemned slavery. With that precedent lets do it again. Lets realise that while there may be some good points in this book there are parts that were written in ignorance and denying equality due to unjust prejudice.
Homosexuality should not be a sin. No other religion has ever put so heavy a price on loving.

You might as well ask, "Why are so many PEOPLE leaving Christianity." After all, 55% of those who self-identify as Christian in the United States have not attended church since childhood, don't own a Bible, and don't even think about religion...if pressed with the question, "What do you really believe?", most shrug their shoulders and say, "I don't know."
If you plan on staying celibate in order to be a Christian, then that is your choice. Its not an option for everyone, though. Just be thankful you live in a country where there are options open and available to all.

in case you admit that homosexuality is a sin, then why say countless those nasty issues approximately Christians who're in simple terms agreeing with you, the Bible, and the God who spoke it? no person is appropriate, you're real, yet as a results of fact all of us fail does no longer mean we could desire to consistently in simple terms start up approving evil. Thievery, rape, adultery, and greed are additionally sinful, and as Christians we could desire to accept as true with God on the difficulty. we don't throw up our arms and say, "properly, no person's suitable, so any longer, theft, rape, adultery and greed are ok!" could that make experience? If a gay attends church and hears God's be conscious on the difficulty, he has a call, repent or do no longer repent. If he won't, he would be very uncomfortable week after week understanding that he's in sin so a techniques as God is worried, and yet he sits there fairly mocking God. that should get uncomfortable, do no longer you think of? that's why they go away. no person is forcing sinners out the door, we are having a puzzling sufficient time getting them interior the door.

A lot leave or turn Atheist because of the way a lot of relions view them, and judging by a lot of comments I have seen and heard over the years, I am not suprosed in the least.
One question for you - Why remain single and always will be until god spares you? if it is any kind of loving god and accepting god, then it would accept you for who you are, and even a lot of christian people saying "god made us all the way we are!" so you should just be yourself and not worry so much about religion and god, otherwise I can guarantee your life will not be a happy one.

God bless you. I agree with you, we Christians are often foolish in condemning where we should be extending the arm of love. (That was corny, but cut me some slack here, it's 5:14 am.)
You are right, God IS love, and He died for all of our sins, including...well, every last one!
Moreover, I think it's sad that people seem to think that homosexuality is somehow, suddenly, the "worst" sin. Where'd that theology come from? The tiniest bit of sin separates us from God. Just because I don't sin in the way you do doesn't make me better than you. I am nothing; I am only saved because of God's undeserved mercy and grace. I can't point the finger at your speck of dust (ouch, who put this beam in my eye?).
May God strengthen you in your walk with Christ. Don't let self-righteous people, whether they call themselves Christians or not, get in the way of your relationship with the One that matters.
God bless.

you don't have to be single. There are many Christian churches here in the US where gays are accepted, and I can recommend a couple of books which explain what the Bible actually says, rather than the homophobic interpretations by many mainstream churches. They have made me feel much better about myself in that regard!
EDIT -- I respect your celebate thing, if that is what you think you are being led towards! You have to trust what you are being led by Jesus!

I haven't left "christianity" - my faith and relationship with God is strong. I have left the "church".
If you feel that God wants you to be celibate, then, by all means, be celibate. However, don't base your life and your future happiness on what the fundamentalists would tell you.

Don't limit yourself like this, you will simply fail and feel terrible about yourself. I suggest strongly that you find MCC Church's. Metro Community Church has Church's all over and its ministry is the GLBT and their families. My g/f is a christian (I am not), and we found this church to be the answer to our dilemma of where we can go where she is able to be spiritual among her own people, and I am not threatened, AND we can hold hands during services. This church is where you will find the spiritual guidance and community you need to live your life as a christian. And you will also find a partner who is on the same page as you. God didn't mean for you to be alone, that's why He created a heart to love and a body to express that love. Google Metro Community Church and then find one in your area. Good luck to you.

First, I do agree you shouldn't leave religion just because you commit sins. At first I was going to answer the question very rudely but then I read the rest. I must say I applaud you for having the strength to control yourself. I think that is the best solution. Very good!God Bless.
