I was told high blood pressure has effects like that. Is that true

You could have been dreaming of the sound of chimes, but if your gut instinct is telling you to have your blood pressure checked then go with it. Ringing in the ears is a condition called Tinnitus. It can be caused by high blood pressure, and also by iron deficiency anemia.....

More than likely you were dreaming, or half asleep at the time where your brain can give you misconceptions about what you can see and hear around you.
