period 2 weeks late and test is negative?

Hi all,
Well I have had a hell of a day my boyfriend and I have been trying for a fair while now to get pregnant. This month I have found myself 2 weeks late. So got a home preg test and done it and come back negative. I have been lucky I have older sisters and they 1 has told me she did 3 home tests before she knew she was it just must have been to early and that some gals cant detect until they are 5 to 6 weeks pregnant eventhough the box does say it detectes a week before your period. I have also had pains in my side first starting from the right and now in the past week my left. Im just wondering weather anyone else has had a problem like this before. And weather it could still be possible that I am pregnant or maybe somthing else might be causing my period not comming I am usually very much on time. My sister suggested if i dont have a period by next week to go to the doctor this is just all so hard alot of waiting.

Go to the doctor and ask for a blood test hun.

when i first found out i was preg it wasnt by missing a period it was because i had noticed other changes in my body such as tender breasts, feeling sick, going off certain foods, feeling thirsty all the time and a strange metal taste in my mouth, i also felt bloated and my abdomen felt quite swollen too. I was due a period and just assumed it was on its way, a week later it never came and i started feeling forgetfull, tired, minor headaches and having various mood swings, i decided to do a test and it came back neg, then a few days later i was still feeling the same so decied to do another test, i did the one of the 5 days early ones even though i was alreadt a week and a half late, again nothing, then i looked a little closer nearer to the window where it was light and there it was, a very faint pink line, i coundnt believe it. even though we went to the doctors after a few days it was showing neg for them, even though a week later an early scan conf i was, as much as 6 weeks, the best time to do a preg test would be at least a week after youve miised your period, if still nothing and your having other symptons then dont worry, as evry 1 is diff, remember even at 6 wks the docs preg test still said neg even though my home test said pos. so dont worry , relax and keep taking a test after 3 days to a week, a morning urine sample is best as it does not contain excess fluids you may drink during the day so gives a stronger result. good luck, p.s it took me and my partner 7 mths before i conc my daughter and during that time i suffered 2 miscarriages, so evry1 is different.

I hear your frustration. I have been trying to conceive for 13 yrs now. I am waiting till the 16th to test. like the drs said. If your tests arent prego in another week like your sister said you need to see the dr. Have you tried taking the digital pregnancy test. they are the most accurate.

YOu know the other thing is with the pain in your side that could possibly be you ovulating late or a ovarian cyst.

I would go to the r and get whats called a BETA its a blood pregnancy test. They are as accurate as they come.

my wife and I were trying and she took like 3-4 blood test at the hospital that came out negative. freakin weird because she was also late, but then we went again and it was positive......but the weird thing is, the date of conception was pushed back earlier than we had thought, so that means that she was actually pregnant during those 3-4 blood tests...so i think that the tests were messed up or something, even the home pregnancy test was negative during those first blood testings. i would still go to the doc and get some blood drawn. good luck!!

Your sister is right, side pains can be from many different things. I didn't get side pains until about 12 weeks.
