I wanted to find out if 17 year olds have a curfew. From what I have seen on the interent it says up to 16 year olds. I have a child that will be turning 17 soon, When i was 17 it use to be midnight. Does anyone know if there is a curfew for minors under 18?

Yes, well at least in New Orleans, it is for minors 17 and under.

No curfew for 17 years olds. It is right on your cities web site; Sec. 38-236. Curfew for juveniles--Definitions. The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this subdivision, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. Curfew means a regulation to restrict outdoor activities of juveniles in the city between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each day, except on Friday and Saturday, on which days the curfew shall be in force from midnight. Juvenile means a person who has not attained 17 years of age. Parent means a natural or adoptive parent or any person who has legal custody as ordered by a court. So by law you are now treated as an adult if you commit a non status crime.

Here is something about curfew and some other interesting things. If you are the parent you can set any curfew you want til the child is 18 and a graduate of high school. Good luck.

I don't know about the LA curfew but our family curfew is...
9th grade-10:30
10th grade-11:00
11th grade-11:30
12th grade-midnight
this is weekends only
our city has a teen curfew of 10 on school nights and 12 on weekends so it is 10 for my 16 yr old on weeknights and since she is in the 10th grade-11 on weekends
check your city or county gov. website...curfews here are locally mandated by the city
I found ours at the website for a local public high school in their handbook for students and parents
