after this correction in the market, do you think the market will go down further? or have we reached bottom?

Maybe and maybe not. It is very difficult to say. I personally think the bottom might be a ways off yet, but I could be wrong.

If you see something you like, buy a little of it with the thought in the back of your mind that you may be able to buy more later at 25% less.

I personally don't think now is the BEST time. It's a better time than last week at the peak, but probably not as good as it will be a little later. My guess is that the decline will continue for a couple months and down to at least 11300 on the Dow.

Now, having said that, if you're looking to invest long-term (i.e. for college, retirement, etc. that's more than a couple years away), then it's still a GOOD time to invest. Over the long run, the stock market is the best place to invest (as long as you spread your investment out over several well-run companies). And 10 years from now, when the Dow is at something like 28,000, it really won't make that much difference whether you bought in when it was at 12,100 or 11,300 - you'll still be happy you invested.

So if you want to invest now, I'd say go ahead. Just don't panic and take it out if the market goes down more! That's the surest way to lose. Personally, I'd wait until late April or early May and invest then, probably at lower prices.

Absolutely !! You ONLY want to buy when the market has gone down !! Something many fail to ever grasp ; buy cheap sell high.
Even if it goes down a little more you still go in for less money than you could of only a week ago.

I always love a crash in the market for I jump in and make a killing while many others are selling out of fear. If you are not in it for the long haul then I can understand the fear but I plan an waiting out any crash on what I already own and it has proven to make me more money than I could have imagined.

aaaaaaaaaaagh life is good when you don't listen to the media hype.

: )

Happy Investing !

There are a lot of really great companies out there who's stock dropped last week in the wake of the entire market dropping. Those stocks are basically on sale.

Look at it this way. If it was a really great stock two weeks ago (good company, good financial's, etc.), and the price of the stock has dropped due to last weeks sell-of, then it's now a really great stock that's on sale.

If you have any stocks that you believe in, I'd buy more of them.

I doubled up on a couple of my positions yesterday afternoon. These are all long term investments that I plan to hold for years, unless there is some fundamental reason for me to sell.

Yes, it is a great time to buy, but you have to be careful as well meaning to be a buyer in this period, you have to do your homework first. You should track some stocks/funds so if they are below their real price right now, buy them. On other hand, some stocks were really overpriced so they are cut down to right size.
Good luck

Now it is a good time to ... (no. not to buy...) it is a good time to set up your shorts... no, not the pants if you got correction scare, but the short positions. If you see the market perks its head up, shorten it. The higher it pops, the stronger you should shorten it.

Dont listen to the morons who spread fear in the media. They want you to be scared and sell out. I make more money in the markets when people are in panic mode and when I do the opposite of what the "financial media" types tell you to do.
