Your home country has it right. The idea that a fetus is a nonhuman until it crosses the birth canal and then (POOF!) magically turns into a person with full rights to human dignity is nothing short of fantasy, especially when not all babies stay in the womb for the same length of time. How can one fetus conceived 245 (35 weeks from conception) days ago be a person and the other not? That is not even rational, and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply in willful denial.

Even if you do not believe a fetus is human from the moment of conception, the only logical conclusion is that it becomes human at some point before birth. The mother of the fetus, especially one who would even consider killing it, is unfit to play God and determine for herself when that moment is.

We do not give women rights to make their own decisions about whether to kill you, me, or anyone else. Our society only allows them this choice with small, defenseless children because it does not wish to take care of those who are unwanted. Human worth cannot depend on whether others love and care about you.

The fact that a woman was raped does not change whether what is inside her is human or nonhuman. It is a horrible injustice to be raped, but if a woman thinks having her bodily integrity invaded is so bad, she shouldn't be destroying the bodies of other people. No matter how badly we have been hurt, teenage and adult people need to put their own needs behind those of small people who are entirely dependent on them.

Even if the fetus was conceived under the wrong circumstances, we should not punish a child for the sins of his father.

The other problem with this "abortion should be legal because some women are raped" idea is that it justifies the general practice based on extenuating circumstances of a few cases. When deciding whether or not to have a blanket rule permitting or prohibiting a practice, it is never good policy to predicate the rule on the exceptions to the norm. If these exceptions are all the rule has to commend it, you have bad policy.

A "rape victims only" abortion policy also has problems. Anyone unscrupulous enough to abort a child is unscrupulous enough to lie about being raped. People who choose to abort are people who do not take responsibility for their actions, and if these women can relieve themselves of the burdens of childbirth and/or raising the child by passing the buck and blaming the father for their situation, "rape" victims are going to come out of the woodwork. Women who are real rape victims already have problems with society taking them seriously without asking whether they simply "changed her minds." By winning the abortion battle, women ultimately lose the war on credibility.

No, it should not be legal. People see it as murder because it is murder. If you doubt this, take a look:

By the time most women know they are pregnant (just 3 weeks after conception), their baby's heart is already beating. Virtually no abortions are committed before 6 weeks, at which point the baby has tiny fingers and recordable brain waves. It is a simple biological fact that every abortion kills an innocent human being.

It's absolutely disgusting to label an innocent baby a "bastard" because of circumstances that are not her fault. Do you honestly think innocent children should be put to death for the crime of their fathers? Would you kill a one-year-old because her father was a rapist? If not, why is the child in the womb fair game? Is she less worthy of life than the rest of us because of the circumstances of her conception? Rape is bad; murder is worse.

Although I don't like the idea of any aborption. I think it should remain legal because of rape. I've often wondered what I would do if I was raped and got pregnant. On one hand the baby would be a part of me but what if the rapist wanted some kind of parental right. Kind of a sticky situation.

A wise person once said "Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare." The only way to prevent unwanted pregnancy is through education, assistance and protection. Educate people about their own bodies and the consequences of their actions. Assist women who are in such a terrible situation. Protect women and girls from sexual predators by creating laws to put abusers away for good.

fisrtly, this is not the place for a abortion debate and I know we can read some crap on here.. but this is ridiculous.
secondly, its not a bastard, it has a mother who would prefer to kill it then give it a chance to love and be loved.
thirdly, in your search engine, type in abortion pictures and then you tell me... should abortion be legalised!!

No it should not. If you are raped and get pregant as a result of that, there are women and familys out there who would love that child even though you don`t want it or to love it. It is murder. You would not be herte if your mom decided to aboard you.

I think abortion should be legal in all parts of the world.
There are many different reasons for abortion. It is up to the woman as to what she wants cause it is her body.
