injection in vagina to extract uterus tissue? pls answer..?

when u hav a thick uterus, a sample of the uterus is exctracted by inserting an injection into the vagina. is this a common test taken by women over the age of 40? how painful is it? how exactly is it done? what is it called? pls tell me all that u know about this procedure. thx in advance.
