Well i work at "petrol station" in australia and there's a lady coming with no money..and i kept her license...is it legal to do that?? can i be sued!!

I'm Australian too, and have heard of lots of people who do that. Its called a guarentee to make sure they pay and very legal!

I don't know about there in Australia, but I do that at the Valero station here in Texas. They offer it and come back with the money. If they just drive off, I get to call the cops on 'em.
That's always fun.

I've had this happen by paying with a bank card... There is no way to get the gas out of the tank so the guy let me leave my wallet until I went to the bank to see what happened... It was a glitch and it worked again when i went back... This time i had cash just in case and no I NEVER put the gas in if I don't have the cash...

Not familiar with the laws in Australia but here in the US the lady can go to jail for what she did.

I don't know but here in America the usual gas stations make you pay before you pump your gas.

They do that here in the US.
I don't think they can sue you. If they do, you can have them arrested for stealing.

hey, another aussie, yay! um, no i highly doubt that is illegal, call the cops and report it, they stole... wait, did you take her licence plate no. or her actual licence??
