being a Hotpoint, they don't have a filter, but a trap which is situated at the back of the machine, depending on the model number there are two type's. Earlier ones have a bottom rear panel that is secured by about 8 screws, and later models by 2 to 4 screws, remove this panel and the trap is at the bottom of the outer tub, remove the sump hose and check the trap., if this is all clear then the chance's are it's the pump itself, these are not expensive around £28-£38 and are easy to replace. Before touching anything inside the machine, make sure the plug is removed from the mains.

Hotpoint Washing Machine Wont Drain

Your filter is either behind the small door on the bottom front,or behind a full lengyh removable plinth also bottom front.Turn off electric, and use a shallow dish to catch water, after you turn the filter anti clockwiseand remove.Clean filter, and use a screwdriver to ensure the pump blades down inside the filter housing turn freely.Remove anyobjects like coins, screws pins etc.Refit filter, fill and test machine. If it still wont drain, try disconnecting the waste hoseinto a bucket to see if it will pump into that.If it does, your waste line is blocked,if not, then it looks like a job for the wasing machine engineer.

My hotpoint machine did this and a part had to be changed on it. Our machine hasn't got a filter (apparently) so it might be the case with yours.
How old is your machine? Hotpoint guarantees it's parts for 5 years, so the major component that we needed changing didn't cost anything, but cost us about £90 in labour.

If the outlet is connected to the trap under the sink, take it off and see if there is a blockage there, and check hose from machine for one as well. If all is clear, your pump must be the problem.

mine would not drain it i did above and found that there is a filter like a cup with holes in, its in the black flexible hose from the drum to the filter, this filter does not have holes all the way round and had somehow turned in the hose round to a point where the unholed bit covered the drain hole, fixed the problem by putting back in so the water can get through, it also made by washing machine a LOT quieter.
