Hi Sharon!
There are different possible answers to your question, depending on how technical you wish me to be.
This evening, March 3, there will technically be a penumbral eclipse observable in California. I say "technically" and "observable" because it will not be perceptable to you. This penumbral eclipse ends at 6:26 p.m. Pacific Time, but trust me, there will be nothing for people in the Pacific Time Zone to see.
You will have a good view for the total eclipse of the moon the night of August 27-28th coming up. You'll also:
- see a total lunar eclipse next February 20th, 2008,
- there's technically a penumbral lunar eclipse in the early hours of February 9, 2009, which you won't notice
- technically, another penumbral eclipse in the wee hours of July 7, 2009, during which you also will not notice anything
- a partial lunar eclipse, that you can see, near sunrise June 26, 2010
- a total lunar eclipse the night of December 20-21, 2010
- another total lunar eclipse near sunrise on the morning of December 10, 2011
and I could go on.
The next solar eclipse of any kind visible in California will be an annular eclipse May 20, 2012. Northern California will be well-positioned for this one, with a broad band stretching across the northern quarter of the state (almost everything north of a line from Garberville to Lake Tahoe) being directly in the central line with over five minutes of annularity (when the sun completely engulfs the lunar disc). The rest of the state gets a deep partial eclipse late that afternoon.

i don't have a call, i imagine both are interesting & truly suitable. i did not get to make certain the only very last evening using cloud hide regrettably. i don't experience the consequences of the lunar eclipse & won't be able to bear in mind a replace for the duration of a image voltaic one both. each now and then in the course of the usual finished moon cycle i will have a lower than pressure evening's sleep, yet it truly is about it.
