When I run Ad-Aware or Spybot they shut the PC down half way through running.
After running (and shuttng down the PC) numerous times they finally get to the end of the running process. When it reboots the PC shuts down and I have to reboot about 4 times before the PC gets to full welcome screen.
ALSO. When I run AVG anti-virus it 'changes' the registry at the beginning of the run. It does it all the time now! So there must be someting causing this?

I have registry mechanic and when I run this it shuts down the PC before getting through the full run, never getting to the end of the running scrollbar.
HELP :(

It sounds like theres something interfering with your software.
Switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Make sure you have a firewall

Try doing this in Safe Mode if you aren't already and see if it does the same thing. Also if this keeps up try CW Shredder and HiJack this. It sounds as if you have some kind of virus or at least partof one left. Your other option would be to reload the hard drive.
