A polititians life is tough:
1> He is constantly under public scrutiny. He has to guard his words and actions continuously.
2> Opposition, media is forever trying to expose his achilles heel.

Otherwise, as far as pay, position, fame go, all is rosy for a politition.

It really simple life for them, they are professional politicians, its there job and they know the game very well, sure you go to law school and when you go to trial you know what to expect and say, the same for a politician. That job seem hard to people that never had to deal with this type of work. believe you me they no not do it alone, they have specialist to handle the critics and they tell them how to say whats on there mind. Its so easy a caveman can do it.

Very hard.

The governor of our state, Ed Rendell, started in the DAs office in Philly. He became DA, then Mayor, then Governor. All along the way, you would see him on TV at some early AM function, and some benefit that ran 'til the early AM. The hours he works are enormous. I may not agree with some of the things he's done, but I acknowledge the fact that the man works his butt off.

Aside from the huge number of hours, pols sometimes have to take positions that the disagree with, for the sake of the party. Their lives are under constant scrutiny, and they are subject to criticism for almost all their decisions.

It's a very hard life, indeed.

Thanks for this excellent quesion. It's made me think and re-evaluate my own opinion on politicians.

Probably unimagineable for most of us. That's why I try to avoid making hasty judgements on these people or saying silly things like, "OMFG BUSH R BAD MEN!"

I can't imagine feeling the weight of that much responsibility. Some people gravitate towards those positions. I know I certainly don't.
