Check your local library. It will probably be on VHS rather than DVD. They might even have it available for free.

Note to the first answer, it was not a movie; it was one of the first mini-series to be played over several consecutive nights.

The main guy was Kunta Kinte (Kin-tay). He was played by LeVar Burton, most recently on one of the Star Trek shows,

I think it was Kunta Kinte. Maybe the first true mini-series on TV, or was that Rich Man Poor Man ? Try Ebay, maybe even your local (book) library, or video library can look it up, or Oprah, she's sure to have it.

Yes ! I remember it very well...That was my favourite series of all time...It was about black slaves striving for freedom and the hardships they faced over the generations...Kunta Kinta..pronounced (Koonta Kintay).....Most libraries will stock the old videos of the series, also if you still have video stores there, they will be able to get back copies in, but will be expensive...libraries are free....(I think I will lend them out here again too)!!...enjoy and thankx for the memories........
