Most people don't like to hunt for all the questions you've asked.

The most likely place for the thermostat to be is at the end of the large hose coming off the radiator going to the engine. It could be the top or bottom hose, but there should be a small housing on it, usually held by 2 or 3 bolts.

The answer is simple. After moistening the brown paper, fold down the corner to where it touches the camel's hump, until the word "maudlin" is almost completely obliterated.

Of course, that's only *one* way to do it ...

follow the top radiator hose to the engine, it is at the end inside the bell shaped casing, open that and it will be sat inside.
