No, your library shouldvbe completely protected. However, in case something goes wrong with your computer, and to make yourself feel better, go ahead and save all of your music in an alternate file on your hard drive.

no they don't, i've updated itunes many times and nothing happened. if your afraid you can burn the songs onto a cd first

No, you'll keep all your existing music. I've have updated heaps. Go for it.
