unless you have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate(not sure about the other versions though) it can't be done. It is called ReadyBoost and it gives your computer to use a USB flash drive as RAM. Up to 2gb I believe. So if you have at least 512mb ram and can get or have Vista, than that would be your best bet to do what you'd like to do.
