Someone suggested this site to me for episodes of House MD and you have to be signed in to watch/download episodes.

Can someone please explain to me a bit more about this site, what are the risks (I mean viruses and that stuff), and your experiences (if you have any) whit this site/program (I don't even know what to call it).

The one who will give the best explanation will be rewarded with the title of the best answerer and with 10 points =)

Hi there.

From just a glance without registering, I can tell you a few things.

A torrent file is a small file which contains metadata (information) about the files to be shared, and about the tracker (creator/distributor of that torrent), the computer that coordinates the file distribution (and in this case, this TVTorrent.com, a private (not public) tracker/community). Peers that want to download the file first obtain a torrent file for it, and connect to the specified tracker which tells them from which other peers to download the pieces of the file. Basically torrents are like shortcut links to the actual file(s) on various computers scattered all over the internet.

Note 1: Private tracker/communities usually filter out fake torrents more often than public tracker/communities. This is one of the main advantage of this site.

Note 2: There's a very good probability of getting viruses and infections from downloading fake torrents and files within them. A very good risk.

Note 3: Also this program works on a rating ratio system. If you have something to share, then you can download some too.

Example, you upload 1MB, you get to download 2MB (ratio of 1:2 or 2:1, depending which side of the ratio is upload and which is download).

It's not like P2P apps which you can download without sharing. You MUST have something to share before can download.

One final thing, you're just downloading the "shortcut link" to the real file, not the actual file/movie/app etc.

Hope this helps
