(I'm glad SOME people got the "Back to the Future" reference.) Anyway...

There are a couple THEORIES that people need to keep in mind when it comes to time travel.

1) You cannot travel back to a time when time travel hasn't been invented yet. Take Stargate for example. You can't use a stargate to travel to a planet where there is no stargate. Same thing with time travel. This could possibly be why we're not visited by people from the future. Just a theory.

2) Time is not only going in a straight line, but it's stacking up with each second that passes, creating an infinite number of timelines. Now, consider the year 2007 is lined up with the year 1907. If time travel were possible, you wouldn't be traveling BACK to 1907. You pass through to a different dimension; a different 1907. Therefore, you can't change OUR past, but you could alter THEIR history. Get it? Again, just a theory, but it's often overlooked.

As for traveling faster than the speed of light, a major issue is finding some sort of ship that could actually withstand such a journey without being ripped apart.

An interesting concept. Now if you watched TV more you'd have discovered the answer.... you need a time machine. Dr. Who's Tardis is also a time machine.

Anyway, why 1955? why not do the whole world a favour and go back to 0 and stop Adam and Eve from eating that damned apple. Take back some video on a laptop (not sure if the batteries will stay charged or the video will disappear but its worth a try) and show them what will happen if they do what they were told not to do!

I'd like to go forward in time and get the winning lotto numbers and the winners of all the hose races etc then come back home and place bets. Then I could be an instant billionaire.

time travel is definitely possible, although you would only be able to view the image of the past.
Suppose you want to go back to 1955 to view a incident at a particular location,in 1955 when that incident occurred, the image of that incident would have started traveling in the space with the speed of light,so if you start traveling with higher speed than that of light then you would overtake that image and you may reach earlier at some planet for which this image of that incident is destined for and then you can view this image.
The planet that would witness that incident in the year 2008 must be 53 light years away because 2008-1955=53.
So if you travel with such a speed that you reach this planet by 2008(which is much higher than speed of light),then you would see the past.

Theoretically , You can. You must find a way to travel faster than the speed of light and catch up with the imagery of 1955. It is, then may not be possible, to make any change to the sight that you may see . What images we see now of many things that had happened in the universe has happened many light years before. But nothing can be done to correct it.

Time and space are the two infinite things that exists in the world. Matter is said to be limited. You have matter - Limitation. Matter cannot match with unlimited things like time and space.

Mentally, if trained well, it may be possible for your mind to travel to 1955 and see what happened. Physically, it will be practically impossible. Try to built up your mental strength.

It is not possible to travel time, physically. Here's the basics. To stop time, you would have to be going the velocity of light. To go forward in time, you would have to be going slower than light. And to go back in time, you would have to go faster than the speed of light. First of all, there is no way that you could go the speed of light. You would have to have no mass. You can't go faster than the speed of light, because you can't go the speed of light in the first place. To go forward in time, you would have to go slower than zero mph. For example, you can't go -180,000 mps. That is impossible. It cannot happen. Therefore, the only way that you can even get close to going forward in time is if you just stay where you are. Time will gradually pass.

Edit to SK: If the planet is 52 light years away, going at the speed that a rocket can actually travel, it would take around 1000-3000 years to go that distance and by the time that you get there, the light seen in 1955 would already be another hundred light years away or so. The only way to go back to 1955 would be to go faster than the speed of light which cannot happen.

first of all if you went at the speed of lite you'd burn up with friction long before you traveled, second what if the place you started out in was totally different in the future. for example the place where you started was an ocean when you arrived, or you arrived to no future. as for the past dude you don't have to travel to the past to live it, it's all a state of mind. time travel is possible but that's far into the future. i think we need to survive the present first

Time travel is actually here. All you have to do is think, think back and you are there. Faster than the speed of light we can travel by thought, any where in the universe.Hope this helps.. Will :)

moving forward in time is possible by acceleration. the people on earth aged 3 minutes more than the astronauts that traveled to the moon. So if you were to go a long distance at the speed of light you would age the time your gone but the people on earth would have aged much more. check on Einsteins theory and you can get a better explanation.

Yes, it is posssible, so far only one human in history has resolved this mytery, who is an author (Sapphire), he wrote a book called, "Mastering Time Travel:Voyages Through Time" and showing and teaches you why Time travel is possible and how to do it.
