People use a 7‑day week because they have been born into a world where this is customary. In other words, the 7‑day week has been received from earlier generations. It has a long history. When the Roman emperor Constantine made Christianity the state religion early in the 4th Century CE the 7‑day week was officially associated with the Julian Calendar, and the association remained after the Julian Calendar was replaced by the Gregorian Calendar in the 16th Century CE.

The first people to use a seven day week were the Mesopotamians They lived between the Tigris & Euphrates rivers in what is now largely Turkey, Iraq & Iran (their name means "between two rivers".) Theirs was one of the oldest civilisations, stretching from about 4500BC to about 400BC & they had their own religion & literature, so they came up with the concept of the seven day week before the Christian creation story was first told.
They also used a base 60 numeral system which is why we still have 60-minute hours and 24-hour days, as well as the 360 degree circle.

weeks were just made to make an easier ways of measuring time. Days are really short and months are really long. Weeks are just random and have nothing to do with anything. Months follow (generally) the stages of the moon, and days follow the sun, and years follow the movement of the earth and it's seasons. 7 was just a random, easy number.

Because for most of human history, time was measured by the phases of the moon...
28 days from one full moon to the next, broken into 4 stages, full, half, new, otherhalf, and then back to the full moon again.
That makes 4 weeks of 7 days each cycle.

Because if you didn't have seven days in the week you'd end up 52 days short by the end of the year ;)

It's a handy division of the lunar month which is close enough to 28 days.

it derived its roots from the Biblical account of God who created the earth and everything in it in 6 days. then on the seventh day He rested.
in Biblical times, God told the Israelites to work six days and to rest in the seventh day.
