Male cystitas is in no way funny. It`s usally an infection in the unary track which can cause kidney problems. Do go and see you Doctor you may need a course of Anitbiotics. Drink plenty of water to try and flush it out.

It is not at all funny!
Male cystitis is uncommon because of simple anatomy. The female urethra is very close to the anus and bacteria can commonly get across or be wiped across the small gap. There is of course a considerable distance between the 2 orifices in the male, so infection is rare.
Generally most doctors would agree that a UTI in a male of any age requires a level of urology investigation. This will only occur if the infection is proved. This means a MSSU must be sent to the lab, urine specimen, before any treatment is started.
In a number of patients the urine will come back sterile, this may be because sometimes the sensation of pain burning and frequency is due to mechanical trauma, for example from intercourse.
In some men there may be other conditions that also cause similar symptoms, urethritis, infection in the urethra, or prostatitis, inflammation or infection in the prostate.
Overall as I suggested earlier, all males with symptoms of UTI really should be investigated fully, starting with a laboratory test of the urine.

It does tend to be more rare for a man to get cystitis. Basically it is an irritation of the Urethra, (the tube where you pass water from)
As it is a first occurance (?) it should be pretty easy to treat. Some people swear by cranberry juice, or see what the pharmasist recommends.... maybe use another pharmacy or go to a local Boots or Superdrugs (if in the UK) where you can look on the shelves for the treatment yourself.
Good luck

Men who have an enlarged prostate gland are more at risk of getting cystitis, this is because the prostate prevents the bladder from completely emptying. When the bladder is not completely emptied the small drop that is always left behind may contain bacteria (a cause of cystitis). Cystitis is an inflammation of the inside lining of the bladder. Cystitis is an irritating condition that usually affects women, though men and children can also be affected.

You can look it up on nhsdirect for more info. ( It's 'cystitis' by the way) I believe it helps to drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods. I expect the smile meant 'Now another man knows what we women often suffer!" It's less common in men than in women because their urinary tracts are longer and less prone to infection getting in.

It's caused by a bacterial infection of the urinary tract (same as in women)
Whilst cranberry juice won't cure it, drinking it after the infection has cleared up can reduce the chances of it happening again.

its caused by an infection from the bladder, drinking plenty of fluids help to flush out the system, my young lad had a serious infection last year, and this apparently was due to him not drinking enough, and it wasnt anything to smile about, as he was rushed to hospital

I suggest you check with your doc, as you could have a sexually transmitted disease.
