Or might there be some situation where it is actually a desireable outcome.

Sometimes a necessary evil and a desirable outcome are synonymous. For example, if someone you love deeply is being viciously murdered while you are present it would become delightfully desirable to destroy the attacker and it would also prove a "very" necessary evil.

My friend, for humans (I mean real humans who have human virtues instilled in them, not the ones who are just homoerectus!) violence is NOT necessary.when intelligence is present, violence has no credibility.Animals can't reason and have no higher intelligence. That's why they MUST resort to violence to survive. The problem with humans starts when subconcious urges take over reasons and intelligence. We are animals after all, and still have all of those basic animal instincts and desires as a million years ago (Look how violence depicting movies sell out all the time). So violence is not necessary, but it's there all the same, untill the instincts lose out to intelligence. I wanna add that violence and vanity go hand in hand and are the two basic instinct brothers which come hand in hand. In order for one of them to disappear, the other must vanish too.

Violence, is not ever a necessary evil.

Violence is the response of someone who is morally and mentally bankrupt.

It is the action one takes when they are unable or unwilling to come up with a logical response to a situation.

Its always a desirable outcome when the victim is someone else.

That's sarcasm, in case you missed it.

Violence is a sign of residual ignorance. It generally follows in the footsteps of organized religion.

No Violence...would put police, armies and preachers out of business...then the rest of us would have to work 4 jobs to pay their unemployment compensation.

Everything is necessary, otherwise this life would be extremely disappointing.
